Halo hex skewer instruction error
Halo hex skewer instruction error
Created:
We have recently discovered a potentially serious text error with the instructions included on our Halo Skewer sets.
The issue relates to the stated torque denomination unit. The previous instructions noted “7 Ft-lbs” – where as it should have read “7Nm”.
The problem is that the incorrect 7Ft-lbs text is commonly read to mean 7 lb-ft which is equivalent to 9.5Nm.

12mm Thru axle fork and hub compatibility
12mm Thru axle fork and hub compatibility
Created:
12mm Thru axle fork and hub compatibility
Some 12mm thru axle forks are only compatible with hubs which have end cones with a maximum outer diameter of 19mm. Several thru axle hubs have end cone outer diameters larger than 19mm (typically 21mm) and will not fit into the recessed area under the hub location lip.
To check the compatibility of your 12mm axle fork with any thru axle hub, measure distance ‘A’ in the diagram.
If ‘A’ is less than 4.5mm you can only use a hub that has a maximum outer diameter end cone size of 19mm. If ‘A’ is 4.5mm the fork should accept a hub using 21mm end cones.
If in doubt please consult your local dealer.

Connex Wax Chains
Connex Wax Chains
Created:
LESS MAINTENANCE. SUSTAINABLY MORE FUN.
Wax is the new oil, and a revolution in chain care.
With Connex’s environmentally friendly WAX products, oily and dirty chains are a thing of the past.
You‘ve probably experienced it yourself: an oily, sticky chain that attracts dirt like a magnet. Only to release it in the most inconvenient places. On your hands, on your clothes, in the car or at home. Connex’s waxed chains for 10-, 11- and 12-speed gear systems are the efficient, high-performance, low-maintenance alternative. The high-performance wax forms a solid protective layer against dirt and reduces wear. Connex’s special formula with high quality SCA anti-wear additives measurably reduces friction between pins and chain links for a more enjoyable ride. Waxed chains not only deliver more power to the sprockets, they are also easier to care for and maintain.
SYSTEMATIC CARE: HOT AND LIQUID WAX FOR MORE PERFORMANCE, LESS MAINTENANCE AND LONGER LIFE
To help you get the most out of your waxed high-performance chain, Connex offer maintenance options of hot and/or liquid wax. Connex’s Hot Wax provides a thorough cleaning and builds a dry, dirt-resistant wax layer that effectively protects your chain for up to 800 km. The Liquid Wax is a complementary, quick and mobile solution for easy maintenance of your chain. It can be applied to the assembled chain with a small dispenser bottle, just like any other lubricant. Thanks to the compatibility of all WAX products, you decide whether it‘s time for a relaxing wax bath or a quick touch-up with our liquid wax.
Goodbye oil, hello wax!

Chain Wear Indicator
Chain Wear Indicator
Created:
Measure wear accurately
With the chain wear indicator from Connex, you can see at a glance if the chain needs to be replaced or is still good for further use. The long sides of the tool ensure extremely accurate results.
To use, just simply position the chain wear indicator on the chain so that the hook on the left drops into a gap between two rollers. Then place the right side of the indicator on top of the chain.
- If the hook on the right slides into a space between the rollers with the wear indicator not lying flat on the chain, the chain is still good for use.
- If the hook on the right-side slides into a space between the rollers with the wear indicator lying flat on the chain, it is time for a new Connex chain.

Frame and Hub spacing information
Frame and Hub spacing information
Created:
Hubs need to match the frame and fork they are used in.
The spacing of a frame/fork is measured from the inside surfaces of the dropouts, where they come into contact with the locknuts of the wheel's axle.
The hub spacing is measured from the outside face of the lock nuts (or equivalent) , this is commonly called the "O.L.D." (Over-Lock-nut Dimension)
Common Sizes
- 100mm – Modern front hubs, including quick release and some thru axle types.
- 110mm – Some thru axle front hubs including 20mm and boost standards
- 110mm rear – B.M.X
- 120mm rear – Modern Track hubs
- 126mm rear – Older 5 and 6 speed road bikes
- 130mm rear – non-disc road bikes
- 135mm rear – QR MTB, Most QR disc road bikes
- 142mm rear – thru axle rear hubs
- 148mm – boost standard thru axle rear hubs
